Frottage

Frottage is the technique of or process of putting a sheet of paper over an uneven surface and then rubbing a soft pencil across the paper.  To show Frottage I chose to do a piece by artist Max Ernst. The picture is called “Page 71 in the book L'Antitête (Antihead) by Tristan Tzara, volume I: Monsieur AA l'Antiphilosophe (Paris: Bordas, 1949)” I chose this because I feel that the technique is interesting. In the picture I chose the lines are parallel and look like scratches. I am not sure what Max was drawing but the lines and color look really neat.
